Welcome back everyone! Thanks again for joining us. To those of you who are new to our weekly challenge please go here to learn all the details about how this works first. The next five weeks of themes/prompts are at the bottom of my blog. Also, everyone please do us a favor and read this post before entering any photo challenge…thanks!
This week’s theme/prompt is “UP”. Yesterday, was my only chance at getting a shot that would work for UP and boy am I thankful that I was shooting such a beautiful mom-to-be so I could capture these
Let’s just say narrowing down for what I will be showing her is NOT going to be easy. I brought my reflector along and when the wind was NOT blowing Lexi over we were able to use it several times. It really does make a difference and allows you to control the light even more!
I studied photography years ago with my dad – he took me to every Ansel Adams exhibit at the Philadelphia Art Museum. His work is still by far my favorite and I love to study it even now after all the years I spent listening to my dad explain the beauty of his work. How Ansel would sit for hours waiting to get the exact shot he imagined in his mind. How he was the master at keeping your focus exactly where he wanted it. If you have never seen his work – take some time and enjoy the glory and splendor of God’s creation through his lens. You too will fall in love with black and white photography in a whole new way. He might even inspire you to learn all you can about “leading lines”!
This is me in 1985 already falling in love with all things photography!
Without knowing it I have been putting into practice what is called “leading lines” – here are three great posts explaining how you can do it too, and how it makes your photos more interesting; while keeping the focus where you want it to be. #1, #2 and #3
Lauren I simply adore you! You make pregnancy GORGEOUS! Thank you for letting me capture this special time in your life!

I also took Lexi’ senior photos yesterday. I will be sharing them and more of Lauren throughout the week! They were both troopers, because it ended up being extremely windy and very cold all day on Sunday. So much for the warmer weather they promised we would have. Spring has to arrive soon – right???
Remember this week begins my new challenge and contest for all of you – best SOOC in April will win a $50.00 GC for one of these beautiful camera straps (I have the one shown below and LOVE IT!)
Time to get serious about ROCKING your SOOC’s! This prize is too good not to try really hard to win!
Look at the next five prompts and start thinking about what you want to capture and begin practicing now. I can’t wait to see what you all share throughout April. If you would like the entire year of prompts simply email me and I will send you the PDF file right away! Good luck and happy shooting!
Let’s see what is “UP” in your world ![]()

The photos this week are great. I loved Ansel Adams as a child (and still do today!). His photos of the Sierra Nevadas were some of my favorites; he made it look as majestic as it was in person.
The tutorial this week on leading lines was really interesting. I'm definitely going to be practicing once the rain lets up over here.
