I see JOY!

Looking into their beautiful brown eyes filled with a joy that was not there when I first met them in Guatemala.  It is a constant reminder to me of the healing work only God can do.   Every photo I take of them now I see more joy and less pain.  Their eyes continue to soften, as do their hearts.   They have been home over 3 yrs., and yet what they left behind is still an ever present part of them.   I pray one day none of us will remember what life was before they came home forever.  God is re-writing their story and this time it is full of His love for them!

I was thrilled to photograph them with the gorgeous natural light filling up our home.  I leaned up against the glass doors and had them face me.  I love how this series turned out.  All were taken with my 50mm 1.4.

I purposely over-exposed the next two shots and love how it softened everything, while keeping her eyes tack sharp. Do you see the blue sky in her eyes that she was looking up at?

Beautiful. Their eyes indeed, but their whole faces look soft and loving. They are so lucky to have you as their mother.

These are such beautiful photos! I love the reflection of the sky in her eyes. Every time I see a photo of Abigail it is a reminder to me of the healing work that God can do in a broken life. He is able to take what has been completely shattered and create it in to something beautiful and new full of grace, and reflecting His glory.

I continue to pray for that Abigail will rest completely in God’s love for her, and take great delight in who He is creating her to be- fulfilling the wonderful purpose that He has for her life. Thank you for sharing your children through your beautiful gift of photography. They are such blessings to my heart and every photo of them leads me to pray.

Much Love,

Melissa

Oh how God has blessed you and them!!

I don't know personally, but I have an adopted niece, so I have an idea of the challenges that come with a painful beginning. I see more life in her all the time and it is a true testimony of God's ability to heal and use broken people to do it.

Thanks, Jill!

These shots are awesome, and I love how you are using more SOOC! I am not the photographer in the family (Chris does video/photography full time for a school), but love to learn about it! Her eyes are beautiful!

Jill, these are stunning. You really can see the joy in the eyes...not just the smile. If I only saw the eyes, I could still tell she was smiling. Precious!
