Week 8 good to WOW SOOC - Me

GoodtoWow2
Welcome  back everyone!  Thanks again for joining us.  To those of you who are new to our weekly challenge please go here to learn all the details about how this works first.  The next five weeks of themes/prompts are at the bottom of my blog.  Also, everyone please do us a favor and read this post before entering any photo challenge…thanks!

This weeks theme/prompt is Self Portraits/Couples.

Here is a video to show how many pros get tack sharp self-portraits:

For those of you like me who do NOT have all of that fancy equipment – let me tell you that I had fun doing arm’s length shots, setting my camera on my tripod and using a remote shutter button, and setting my camera on top of a table outside last night at sunset to get the best SOOC shots I could.  I am really thrilled with how they all came out.  Despite the fact that I can see all of the things about my face and teeth that bother me.  I’m happy I took the time to do these.

I set my camera on manual mode – then put my focus on AF (auto focus) and lifted the camera slightly higher with the center of my lens right above my lips.  This helped get both of my eyes in focus and keep my nose from looking any bigger than it already is.

The first set was taken at 7am Sunday morning right after I woke up – these are arms length with my 50mm 1.4.  I am not making these their original size – me first thing in the morning this close big – sorry can’t do!

SOOC--1

Even though I cut off the top of my face and head I really love this shot.
SOOC-2

NO, I’m NOT jaundice, nor am I really yellow.  That was the gorgeous sun glow on my skin.
      SOOC-3SOOC-4

You can’t see her in any of the shots above – but Lexi was inside the glass doors making faces at me.  I had my glasses off so I never saw her.  Then she came out laughing that I had not noticed.  So I told her since she did that she had to get into a photo with me.

SOOC-5

Next up my shots from 5pm Sunday as the sun was going down.   I even took a shower, did my hair and put on a little make-up for this mini photo shoot.  He he he!  Scott was thrilled!  I don’t normally do that on Sundays.  And I only take time to do something with my hair when we are going out on a date.  Smile  He came outside to watch me.  Which I was very uncomfortable with at first, until he made me laugh!!!!  Again, I used my 50mm 1.4, this time I used my remote shutter release and had my camera set on top of a table and a large container to get the right height.  I was too lazy to set up my tripod.   With this series I sat on a chair and had the camera almost center on my face – then I moved closer and further away to get different type of shots.

Then Lexi came outside and once again, I asked {forced} her to join me.  She was not really into photos today and thus, we had to work with her a little bit to get her out of that funk!

Two weeks ago I took self portraits using my tripod and the most amazing early afternoon sunlight coming into our family room.  I did NOT have to do a thing to these at all.  They are simply resized for the web.

Woo-hoo! I'm first!!

Hi, there, my beautiful friend! I love how your beauty starts from the inside and shines out!

And I spied both a beautiful valentines gift, and a fun necklace!!

You're too funny with your morning shots! (hehe and brave... I think I've only had one "right out of bed" shot that I liked... all others somehow disappeared! lol!

Lexi is too funny! But you're even funnier that you didn't notice!

I'd be so uncomfortable, too, with hubby watching... but that's a different story.... lol! Too lazy to set up a tripod, but you'll start stacking stuff up???

And really, lady??? How can you ROCK these sooc shots on manual??? So jealous! lol! I really need to study more... and practice more...

These are all great, both of the ones of just you, and the ones with Lexi! I can't really pic any favs.

Great shots Jill. Love them all but I'm partial to the outdoor shots. I envy what looks like nice weather.

I've been practicing my arm's length self portraits. I need longer arms :)

Thanks for the video!

Your shots are all beautiful, but the ones with your daughter stood out as when your smile was happiest to me, so they were my favorite. My next favorites were the ones with your tripod - absolutely perfect lighting and gorgeous shots. I loved every. single. one of those!

these are great I am so busy this week but I want to do this as well. I have a 18-55mm lens though that should work right? I have a tripod but no remote yet have not had time to go get one.. I also am so shy but I will try.

You and your daughter are beautiful.

I love the first tripod shot you did, and the gorgeous flower in your hair.

And the pretty one with the sweater and yellow shirt where you can see your camera necklace.

I also really liked the back to back shot you did. Can't wait to see how you edit these.

These are all beautiful but I have to say that my favourite are the ones taken in your back deck, especially the second photo. I love your expression. So natural and pretty.
